šØ Whenās the Last Time You Checked Your Med Kit?

āTrivia Questionā
Which over-the-counter med doesnāt truly expire, but just weakens over time?
Answer at the bottom of the newsletter
Hey Prepper!
This week brings a double reminderāone from the heart, the other from the medicine cabinet.
Strange combo? Maybe.
But in the world of preparedness, these moments arenāt randomātheyāre essential.
Because survival isnāt just about storing beans and bulletsā¦
ā¦itās about slowing down, staying sharp, and taking care of what truly matters.

āļø Good Friday: Stillness, Reflection & the Real Reason We Prepare
Good Friday marks a moment of sacrifice. Stillness. Reflection.
Whether you observe it religiously or quietly reflect on the meaning of life, it centers us on what we protect, and why.
Because letās face it: preparedness is never just about gear.
Itās about:
Keeping your kids safe when the system fails
Helping your neighbor when EMTs canāt get there
Being calm when everyone else is panicking
On days like Good Friday, I always come back to this:
āWhatās the point of survivingāif weāre not surviving for someone?ā
Thatās why every kit, plan, and skill matters.
š National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day
(Yepāitās this Friday. And yes, it matters way more than you think.)
Now letās pivot to something practical.
This Friday is National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day, and for most folks, itās just a spring chore.
But for us?
Itās a survival non-negotiable.
Because an outdated or incomplete med kit is one of the biggest prepper blind spots out there.
And trust me: when someoneās bleeding, seizing, or in anaphylaxisā¦
You donāt want to be the person who forgot to toss the expired EpiPen.
š Hereās Your 7-Point Prepped & Ready Med Kit Check
š Set aside 15 minutes. Just 15.
Then knock these out:
Toss expired meds (especially liquids, antibiotics, and ointments)
Check your first-aid staples: gauze, gloves, antiseptics, wraps
Restock OTC meds: Benadryl, ibuprofen, antihistamines, antacids
Audit your bug-out bag med pack (remove anything degraded)
Print an emergency med reference sheet (or save a PDF offline)
Separate adult vs kid meds (label clearly and bag them individually)
Note your gaps and restock strategicallyādonāt wait till the storm hits
š§ Pro Tip: Add activated charcoal, electrolyte packets, and trauma shears if you donāt already have them.
āPreparedness isnāt panic. Itās peace in the storm.ā
šØāš©āš§ Why It Matters
We prep for scenarios, right? So picture this one:
š Your spouse is injured in a car crash.
šµ Thereās no signal. No EMS.
ā± Youāve got 8 minutes to stop bleeding and stabilize until help arrives.
That scenario?
Itās the reason this checklist isnāt just a newsletterāitās a wake-up call.
⨠Food for Thought: The Medicine We Overlook
On Good Friday, we often reflect on healing, sacrifice, and unseen wounds.
And when you really think about itāprepping is a form of healing, too.
Not just for future emergencies, but for the invisible worries we carry:
The fear of not being ready
The guilt of past unpreparedness
The anxiety of having to say āI wish I hadā¦ā
So hereās the thought I want to leave you with this week:
āBeing prepared is the medicine we give to our future selves.ā
It soothes fear. It strengthens resolve. And when done rightāit brings peace.
Take care of your tools. Take care of your family.
And most of all, take care of yourself.
