🚨 When’s the Last Time You Checked Your Med Kit?

ā“Trivia Questionā“
Which over-the-counter med doesn’t truly expire, but just weakens over time?
Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Hey Prepper!

This week brings a double reminder—one from the heart, the other from the medicine cabinet.

Strange combo? Maybe.

But in the world of preparedness, these moments aren’t random—they’re essential.

Because survival isn’t just about storing beans and bullets…
…it’s about slowing down, staying sharp, and taking care of what truly matters.

āœļø Good Friday: Stillness, Reflection & the Real Reason We Prepare

Good Friday marks a moment of sacrifice. Stillness. Reflection.

Whether you observe it religiously or quietly reflect on the meaning of life, it centers us on what we protect, and why.

Because let’s face it: preparedness is never just about gear.

It’s about:

  • Keeping your kids safe when the system fails

  • Helping your neighbor when EMTs can’t get there

  • Being calm when everyone else is panicking

On days like Good Friday, I always come back to this:

ā€œWhat’s the point of surviving—if we’re not surviving for someone?ā€

That’s why every kit, plan, and skill matters.

šŸ’Š National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day

(Yep—it’s this Friday. And yes, it matters way more than you think.)

Now let’s pivot to something practical.
This Friday is National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day, and for most folks, it’s just a spring chore.

But for us?
It’s a survival non-negotiable.

Because an outdated or incomplete med kit is one of the biggest prepper blind spots out there.

And trust me: when someone’s bleeding, seizing, or in anaphylaxis…
You don’t want to be the person who forgot to toss the expired EpiPen.

šŸš‘ Here’s Your 7-Point Prepped & Ready Med Kit Check

šŸ” Set aside 15 minutes. Just 15.
Then knock these out:

  1. Toss expired meds (especially liquids, antibiotics, and ointments)

  2. Check your first-aid staples: gauze, gloves, antiseptics, wraps

  3. Restock OTC meds: Benadryl, ibuprofen, antihistamines, antacids

  4. Audit your bug-out bag med pack (remove anything degraded)

  5. Print an emergency med reference sheet (or save a PDF offline)

  6. Separate adult vs kid meds (label clearly and bag them individually)

  7. Note your gaps and restock strategically—don’t wait till the storm hits

🧠 Pro Tip: Add activated charcoal, electrolyte packets, and trauma shears if you don’t already have them.

ā€œPreparedness isn’t panic. It’s peace in the storm.ā€

šŸ‘Øā€šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘§ Why It Matters

We prep for scenarios, right? So picture this one:

šŸš— Your spouse is injured in a car crash.
šŸ“µ There’s no signal. No EMS.
ā± You’ve got 8 minutes to stop bleeding and stabilize until help arrives.

That scenario?
It’s the reason this checklist isn’t just a newsletter—it’s a wake-up call.

✨ Food for Thought: The Medicine We Overlook

On Good Friday, we often reflect on healing, sacrifice, and unseen wounds.

And when you really think about it—prepping is a form of healing, too.

Not just for future emergencies, but for the invisible worries we carry:

  • The fear of not being ready

  • The guilt of past unpreparedness

  • The anxiety of having to say ā€œI wish I hadā€¦ā€

So here’s the thought I want to leave you with this week:

ā€œBeing prepared is the medicine we give to our future selves.ā€
It soothes fear. It strengthens resolve. And when done right—it brings peace.

Take care of your tools. Take care of your family.
And most of all, take care of yourself.
